New Classical Tracks - Steven Copes

Violinist Steven Copes, pianist Stephen Prutsman and the SPCO - Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra - Prokofiev Reimagined (Phenotypic)

Steven Copes has been the concertmaster of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO) since 1998. When talking to host Julie Amacher about his friendship with pianist and composer Stephen Prutsman, he recalls that they met during the 1993 Marlboro Festival, where Prutsman invited Copes to sightread some trios together. Prutsman would then become one of the SPCO’s first artistic partners in the early 2000s. This year, Copes and Prutsman reunite once again on a new project that takes two sonatas by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev and reimagines them for chamber orchestra.
