New Classical Tracks - Abi Fayette

Violinist Abi Fayette from the Catalyst Quartet – Uncovered, Vol. IV: Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (Azica)

The Catalyst Quartet began its Uncovered project in 2018 with the goal of unearthing, recording and more widely performing the music of historical black composers. The group recently released the fourth and final volume in this series; this time focused on Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Bologne is a fascinating 18th century Black composer who rose to prominence in Parisian society as a celebrated violinist, conductor, athlete and champion fencer. In this new recording, the Catalyst Quartet highlights 18 of Bologne’s string quartets.
