Manfred Honeck is the music director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. At the end of his new six-year contract, he will have been with the ensemble for 25 years, the longest serving conductor in the orchestra’s history. During his tenure there, he’s earned two Grammy Awards and released various recordings. Honeck’s latest recording with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra features Antonín Dvořák Symphony No. 9 (From the New World) paired with Four Black American Dances by American composer Carlos Simon, and was recorded live in the historic Heinz Hall in February 2025. Host Julie Amacher sits down with Honeck to discuss what was most memorable about those performances.
