New Classical Tracks - Gao Hong

Pipa player Gao Hong: Symphony of Self; with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band (Naxos World)

Pipa master Gao Hong came to the U.S. 32 years ago. Her goal is to ensure the Pudong style of pipa playing lives on, and she believes innovation is a dialogue with tradition. Throughout her career, she has found endless ways to collaborate with other musicians to bring the voice of her pipa to life. On her latest recording, Symphony of Self, Gao Hong teams up with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band to perform four original concertos she composed and orchestrated. Find out more on New Classical Tracks, with host Julie Amacher.
