Fifteen years ago, JoAnn Falleta conducted Iranian-American composer Behzad Ranjbaran’s Violin Concerto. At the time, she told him, “Behzad, this is a magnificent work. I'm gonna record it someday.” That day is finally here. The recording, titled A Hero’s Life, features the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra with its concertmaster, Nikki Chooi, as the soloist.
