New Classical Tracks - Jeannette Sorrell

Jeannette Sorrell and the Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra: Bach’s Coffeehouse (Avie)

Jeannette Sorrell is the founder, conductor and harpsichordist of Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra. The ensemble has a concert series in Cleveland called the Baroque Bistro, which Sorrell says is similar to the concerts held at Gottfried Zimmerman’s Coffeehouse in the Baroque era. The Coffeehouse is where J.S. Bach would lead concerts with his student orchestra from the University of Leipzig, and that concept is the foundation for the ensemble’s latest album. Find out more on New Classical Tracks, with host Julie Amacher.
