New Classical Tracks: Astor Piazzolla: Legacy - Tomas Cotik, violin; Tao Lin, piano

Astor Piazzolla: Legacy - Tomas Cotik, violin; Tao Lin, piano (Naxos Records)

He was short, he walked with a limp, and he earned the nickname "Lefty" for his left hook. Growing up on the East Side of Manhattan, Astor Piazzolla often had to defend himself.

Violinist Tomás Cotik grew up in Piazzolla's homeland of Argentina. Cotik moved away at age 18, studying, teaching, and performing in Canada, Germany and the United States. Cotik's new recording takes him back to his homeland, as he celebrates the legacy of Astor Piazzolla.
