Donald Palumbo is the Metropolitan Opera's chorus master. He tells NPR's Fresh Air about 'stagger breathing,' the ways singers protect their voices and his own lack of formal training.

Director of Music at St Paul's Cathedral, London, since 2007, Andrew Carwood has been conducting choirs since he was 16 years old. He recently described what it's like to sing at St. Paul's Cathedral and the music program he oversees there. "It's very exciting for me," he says. "I like to encourage the boys to sing as well as they possibly can."

The University Singers are taking their music on tour from the Twin Cities to Duluth, Hibbing, and Pine City. They'll be singing - and listening, too.
