Romance — who doesn't love that at the movies? It seems that romantic comedies and dramas have a way of drawing us in.

One of the greatest romantic films is 1957's An Affair to Remember, directed by Leo McCarey. It was actually a remake of McCarey's 1939 film that starred Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne, called Love Affair.

The film itself is considered one of the big romances of all time, according the to American Film Institute. The 1957 version stars Cary Grant as the ne'er-do-well playboy, Nickie Ferrante, who meets Deborah Kerr's character, Terry McKay onboard a cruise ship.

A little trivia: Marni Nixon also appeared in the movie and provided overdubbing for Deborah Kerr's singing (just as she did in The King and I.)

The film was nominated for four 1957 Oscars: Best Cinematography, Best Original Costume, Best Original Song, Best Original Score. In this week's Flicks in Five, we'll hear Harry Warren's famous song, "An Affair to Remember (Our Love Affair)."
