Flicks in Five: Elmer Bernstein

One of the most successful American film composers of the generation that followed the 'Golden Age' is Elmer Bernstein.

His career spanned over 50 years, with scores for The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, and The Ten Commandments.

His one and only Oscar win was for Thoroughly Modern Millie in 1967 — although he was nominated for 14 Oscars throughout his career.

One of his best known scores was for the 1956 motion picture that, to this day, is considered one of the great biblical epics of all time — The Ten Commandments. This week on Flicks in Five, we'll hear some of Elmer Bernstein's score for that film.
