Happy the artist who has a day job as interesting as the pieces that artist creates. That describes the career of Minnesota composer, Chris Gennaula, a software engineer by day and a successful composer by night. Gennaula's works have been heard at the Basilica of St Mary and the Minnesota Fringe Festival. His stories and his playlist are oddly fun. Just wait for the image of the nuns in habits playing soccer with music to match!

Francis Poulenc: Gloria (Laudamus Te) with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus conducted by Seji Ozawa. DG 427 304

Bela Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Georg Solti (movement 4). London 400 052

Maurice Durufle: Requiem (Kyrie) with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Robert Shaw. Telarc 80135

Bear MacCreary: Battlestar Galactica season four (excerpt)La-la Land Records

Chris Gennaula: Pie Jesu (from a concert recording made by the composer)

Chris Gennaula: Yarrrh (from a concert recording made by the composer)

Next week: Carol Rudie is a docent at The Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis and recently began leading art tours to Russia. Her playlist is filled with the vibrant musical colors of Russia.
