Michelle Cann is a trailblazing African American concert pianist and teacher who is inspiring the next generation of musicians at the Manhattan School of Music and the Curtis Institute.

She’s a teacher and a performer who practices what she preaches. First and foremost, she says, believe in yourself.

“I think one of the greatest things we can give to the next generation is our true and authentic selves and literally just be willing to be vulnerable and give that honest truth about our experience and our journey,” she says.

In 2021, she released her first album, which championed the music of Florence Price and Margaret Bonds.
