William Yang performs an all-Chopin concert at the Chopin Society

On Sunday, Sept. 14, Twin Cities native William Yang performed an all-Chopin concert at Macalester College’s Mairs Concert Hall as part of the Frédéric Chopin Society’s 42nd season. The concert was a glimpse into Yang’s own preparation for the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, taking place between Oct. 2 and 23, 2025. Hailed as one of the most challenging international piano competitions for both its fame and pianistic demands, the competition consists of three rounds featuring solo piano pieces by Chopin, plus a final round featuring a Chopin concerto and two additional Chopin pieces.
