Extra Eclectic - Feb. 26, 2025

This week’s episode of Extra Eclectic showcases a host of modern classical works featuring instruments picked, plucked and strummed — including the guitar, harp, theorbo (a kind of giant bass lute) and more. Steve Seel plays selections including Anna Segal’s Dialogue for Harp and Clarinet, Javier Lopez de Guerena’s Concierto Ecuanime for guitar and vibraphone, and a marvelous improvisation by pipa player Gao Hong and guitarist Ignacio Lusardi Monteverde. In the show’s second hour, it’s an exploration of vast spans of time and distance, with works including Kevin Puts’ Contact and Edie Hill’s Poem for 2084. Listen now!
