Lyyra and Voces8 U.S. Scholars: I Want To Go Home

The Voces8 U.S. Scholars, with special guests Lyyra, perform the traditional spiritual “I Want to Go Home,” arranged by Anthony Trecek-King. In this heart-rending song, featuring Jack Williams III, an enslaved man in the pre-Civil War United States starts singing a lament after a long day in the fields, and others join in. The song is part of Trecek-King’s ongoing project to preserve forgotten spirituals for modern audiences. Listen now to this stunning rendition, recorded by Minnesota Public Radio and shared for Black History Month.
