Go behind the scenes as Minnesota Opera presents 'Romeo and Juliet'

Minnesota Opera's 'Rome and Juliet': Jasmine Habersham and Evan LeRoy Johnson

There's a song made famous by Dinah Washington that's called “What a Difference a Day Makes” — 24 little hours. In that song, the end of the 24 hours has brought the singer to joy from sorrow. At the end of the 24 hours Romeo and Juliet covers, they go from joy to sorrow. And we end in tragedy. But not without a lot of gorgeous music along the way.

The Minnesota Opera's new production of Charles Gounod's Romeo and Juliet runs Nov. 2 to 10 at the Ordway Center in St. Paul. YourClassical MPR's Bonnie North had a chance to talk with soprano Jasmine Habersham and tenor (and Twin Cities native) Evan LeRoy Johnson about the challenges and joys of singing the iconic roles of Romeo and Juliet.

Listen to the audio above to hear their interview and a duet from from the opera.

Then watch the video above to go further behind the scenes of this exciting production.
