Extra Eclectic

Mental health and spirituality, with a twist

Extra Eclectic - May 15, 2024

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and on the first hour of this episode of Extra Eclectic, host Steve Seel features works that touch on concepts associated with mental health, but are all also, purely coincidentally, by composers of Persian ancestry — including Turkish composer Fazil Say and Iranian composer Nasim Khorassani. In the second hour, we hear modern works containing religious connotations, including Nico Muhly’s Hymns for Private Use and Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s Hear us in Heaven
