Bradley Cooper brings Leonard Bernstein to life in 'Maestro' trailer

We’ve already seen photos from the upcoming film Maestro that capture Bradley Cooper’s uncanny resemblance — OK, with the help of a few prosthetics — to Leonard Bernstein. Now comes the first official trailer for the movie, which Cooper also directed.

Focusing on Bernstein’s relationship with his wife, Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan), it features black-and-white sequences of the young couple paired with later color versions in which the two re-create a courtship ritual. There’s music, of course (the heartbreaking “Adagietto” from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5), but again, it’s Cooper who enraptures as Lenny (urbane voice, insouciant cigarette, turtleneck sweater). Maestro is set for a November theatrical release (December on Netflix).
