Technology continues to change music

Editor’s note: Audio for this program is no longer available due to rights restrictions.

French composer Betsy Jolas’ “bTunes” (named after Apple’s iTunes, but using “b” for “Betsy”) is an observation on how music has been radically changed by technology - through playlists, streaming, and the private experiences of headphones and earbuds. We hear Jolas’ piece as one of the two final highlights from this year’s BBC Proms Festival, recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
