To repair, Tesfa Wondemagegnehu looks to home and beyond

Interview: Tesfa Wondemagegnehu

Last summer, YourClassical MPR’s Tesfa Wondemagegnehu launched a project called To Repair. Tesfa traveled the rivers and highways across America, looking for ideas and people who could help repair communities.

Tesfa is a singer, composer, conductor, professor at St. Olaf College, and host of YourClassical’s podcast Rhapsody in Black. He talked with host John Birge about how his journey inspired a world premiere next month at Lincoln Center, as well as a three-day series of conversations and performances around race called “Let’s Not Go Back To Normal: Racial Reckoning, Repair, and Reconciliation” which opens Thursday night in Minneapolis.
