Instrument: Piano
Hometown: Fridley, Minn.
Piece: Erik Satie — Gnossienne No. 1
Why did you choose this piece?
Erik Satie composed in my favorite time period. I'm fascinated by his compositions in general because of the freedom of expression he meant for them to have, and that his pieces tended to break established tradition. My favorite part of Gnossiennes is being able to feel the music into the piano because of the flexibility of the dynamics and phrasing.
