George Augustus Bridgetower was a child prodigy, a crown favorite, a master violinist, composer and respected keyboard teacher. He is best known for his association with Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven dedicated his Kreutzer Sonata for the Afro-European musician, and debuted the sonata for violin and piano with Bridgetower. A copy of the sonata autographed by Beethoven is inscribed: Sonata mulattica composta per il mullato
