Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call them Morning Glories.
On July 26, 1829, Mendelssohn arrived in Edinburgh, Scotland. While there, he wrote a letter home describing the scenery, and included another piece of paper with sketches of what would become his "Scottish" Symphony. We'll hear a number of pieces from the itinerant Mendelssohn on this week's Morning Glories.
Monday
String Quartet in Eb, Op. 12
Tuesday
Hebrides Overture
Wednesday
Symphony No. 3 "Scottish"
Thursday
Piano Concerto No. 1
Friday
