Highlights from the International e-Piano Junior Competition

The e-Piano Jr. Competition is underway at the Ted Mann Concert Hall in Minneapolis. Twenty-six contestants from eight nations — Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, the U.K. and the U.S. — are competing for top honors and worldwide recognition.

You wouldn't know it by listening, but these players are young; they range in age from 13 to 17. The first two rounds wrapped up Sunday, July 9, at Ted Mann Concert Hall. The last round, on Tuesday night, moves to Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis. That's when five finalists will play with the Minnesota Orchestra (the concert is free and open to the public). Classical MPR's Melissa Ousley will host the awards ceremony the night of Tuesday, July 11.

Listen to Classical MPR on Monday and Tuesday, July 10 and 11, at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., as well as on Wednesday, July 12, at 9 a.m. as we bring you highlights from this international competition.
