Why do you like to compose?
As someone who doesn't think in words, I sometimes have trouble finding the right words to describe what I'm feeling. When I sit down at the piano or pick up my flute, I can express my feelings through music, and convey to the listener what I really am feeling inside. But even then, it feels almost as if I'm picking from a list of already written emotions, instead of ones that truly come from inside me. I first got into composition by improvising on my piano pieces to better suit my emotions and what I was feeling, and that eventually led to composing my own pieces. I have been hooked ever since. Composing allows me to take musical expression to a new and very personal level.
