Moveable Feast: Golf Courses

Golf's biggest tournament is coming to Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. this week. The biennial Ryder Cup alternates between the United States and Europe, and draws tens of thousands of golf fans. Tickets have long been sold out, but if you want to get in the spirit, the Minnesota Monthly recently rounded up some of the state's best best resort-based golf courses. Here are a few notables:

Starting in the Brainerd Lakes area, Madden's on Gull Lake has highly-ranked courses but also has the state's only public caddy program — a luxury typically reserved for high-end private clubs.

At Grand View in Nisswa, one of their golf holes is pretty enough to have graced the cover of Sports Illustrated's golf calendar. They also have some of the best resort spas and dining options.

In addition to regular golf, Cragun's has a popular foot golf course (like a cross between soccer and golf). Breezy Point has a course designed by late golf legend Arnold Palmer — even non-golfers should recognize his name from the lemonade-ice tea drink.

Further north, Giants Ridge in Biwabik and Fortune Bay in Tower are highly-touted courses worth checking out.
