Moveable Feast: Private Dining

Moveable Feast: Private Dining

Like many people, I enjoy going to restaurant and having a good meal. But there are a few spots that take that to the next level with private dining experiences.

One spot that's been getting a lot of buzz lately is Birdie, the private dining room in the kitchen adjacent to Nighthawks. Chef/owner Landon Schoenefeld sells $100 tickets to 12-course meals and diners sit at a communal table. It's a relaxed ambiance but very creative, high-end food. I was surprised to find the menus were lighter and more produce-centric than at Nighthawks or Haute Dish and you can add a wine or non-alcoholic beverage pairing.

Another option that's lesser known is the pop-up dinners, courtesy of Lowry Hill Meats butcher shop. They tend to be (unsurprisingly) meat-centric, and are often less expensive, with fewer courses — I did one for $75. Beverages are BYO and they also keep the meat counter open so you can shop after dinner, too. Both places would be good for an upcoming holiday-related group get together.
