Alexander Gretchaninoff's "Passion Week" is a set of 13 pieces that are drawn from liturgical texts used in the Orthodox Church during Holy Week — the week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
On Thursday, March 24, at 7 p.m., Lynne Warfel hosts a broadcast of the National Lutheran Choir's concert performance of these 13 pieces. The songs are sung in their original church Slavonic. "All 13 movements are wonderfully varied," writes NLC Artistic Director David Cherwien, "with and ebb and flow that lifts one off earthly awareness into a different plane of spirit."
