New Yorker music critic Alex Ross places Igor Levit as one of "the most promising pianists of his generation." On Wednesday, Feb. 17, Levit — a Russian-born, German pianist — makes his Schubert Club debut with a recital of pieces by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Prokofiev. (In January 2016, Levit was featured in an episode of New Classical Tracks.)
For the first time ever, Classical MPR will broadcast this concert live from the Ordway Music Hall in St. Paul. Join host Elena See for the live broadcast of this Schubert Club event.
For more than 130 years, The Schubert Club has been one of Minnesota's leading performing arts organizations, with a reputation for presenting the world's great musicians in recital. The Schubert Club Museum holds a world-class collection of more than 100 historic keyboards, hundreds of instruments from around the world and original letters and manuscripts of many famous composers. Located in the Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul, admission to the Schubert Club Museum is free. Below are some of Elena See's photos from a recent visit to the museum.
