'Mozart in the Jungle' wins two Golden Globes

Sunday night in Los Angeles, the Amazon series Mozart in the Jungle won two Golden Globes: for Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy), and Best Actor in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy). The wins are sure to win a broader audience for the Amazon series about classical music.

Amazon recently released the second season of the series, which was inspired by the 2005 memoir of oboist Blair Tindall. Her controversial book told of Tindall's experiences in the competitive — and, to some, surprisingly scandal-ridden — world of orchestral music in New York City in the 1980s and '90s. The Amazon series features cameos from real-world classical musicians — including Gustavo Dudamel, the alleged inspiration for the playboy conductor character Gael Garcia Bernal won a Golden Globe for portraying.

Read Sheila Regan's 2015 conversation with Tindall about music, her book, and the hit series.
