The Singers is the name of a Minneapolis-based, 40-member professional choir led by Artistic Director Andrew Culloton. The organization is dedicated to giving world-class performances of the finest choral literature.
The Singers have premiered and commissioned more than 70 new works by composers including Stephen Paulus, Abbie Betinis, Jocelyn Hagen, Joshua Shank, Craig Carnahan, and by Culloton. Just this past May, the Singers performed the world premiere of Carhahan's Ghost Camp with chamber ensemble Zeitgeist and actor James Ramlet.
Last December, the Singers participated in Carol with Classical MPR, the station's first-ever statewide caroling broadcast, performing 15 seasonal carols while audiences were encouraged to sing along. On Monday, Sept. 7, the Singers will bring that spirit of audience interaction to the MPR booth at the Minnesota State Fair, where they'll perform live in a broadcast hosted by Classical MPR's Steve Staruch.
Listen to Classical MPR on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at 12 noon, to hear The Singers as they perform live at the MPR booth at the Minnesota State Fair. Steve Staruch hosts.
