Coronation ceremonies are grand events in the United Kingdom, with origins dating back to the 10th century.
The ceremonies have new music, written by composers from the U.K., called "coronation anthems".
George Frederic Handel wrote four anthems for the coronations of King George II and Queen Caroline (Handel, who was from Germany, was a naturalized British citizen).
On this week's Learning to Listen, hear anthems from Henry Purcell to Ralph Vaughan Williams.
