It's time for the annual Best of the Twin Cities issue of Minnesota Monthly, featuring the best of food, fashion, and culture. In the culinary division, there weren't too many surprises. Here are a few of the picks:
Best Bakery: Patisserie 46
Best Late-Night Dining: 112 Eatery
Best Cheap Eats: Quang
This year, however, Minnesota Monthly did things a little differently. Instead of having of critics picks, they went to experts in the food community, such as local chefs and restaurant owners. And they received some interesting responses:
"As most attempts at Irish pubs in Minnesota either serve more Mexican and Italian food than traditional Irish and/or look like a Gabberts bomb went off, I guess this place is what I picture would best mirror an actual neighborhood pub in Ireland (being an O'Reilly but never having been to Ireland)."
-Matty O'Reilly (on The Dubliner), 318 Cafe/Republic/Red River Kitchen
"You get a contact sugar buzz as soon as you walk in the door."
-Doug Flicker (on A Baker's Wife), Piccolo/Sandcastle
(and in addition to being a chef, Doug is quite the juggler)
