Portraits of composers tend to show worthy gentlemen of a certain age, dressed up in respectable suits of clothes, maybe even with whiskers to complete the effect. But even composers were kids once. This week, on Morning Glories, we'll bring you five pieces whose composers, at the time they wrote them, were talented teenagers.
This is also the week when we open the door for submissions to Minnesota Varsity, Classical MPR's showcase for high-school musicians. Do you have a young musician in your family? Or are you one yourself? Let the energy and creativity of these pieces inspire you, and send us a sample of your music-making: find full details on Minnesota Varsity here.
