On Thursday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m., Dolce Wind Quintet will perform at the Minnesota State Fair on the stage at the MPR booth, located near the corner of Judson and Nelson. Classical MPR's Valerie Kahler hosts.

Since 1995, the Dolce Wind Quintet have been performing for recitals, weddings, receptions, worship services, charity benefits and other public and private events, drawing from their repertoire of classical and contemporary wind quintet literature, transcriptions, ethnic music, dances, popular songs, show tunes and holiday music. Among the artists series for which Dolce perform are The Schubert Club Courtroom Concert series and Fridays in the Valley concerts in the Twin Cities, the Munsinger/Clemens Gardens summer series in St. Cloud, the Vintage Band Festival in Northfield, Minn., and Summer Mostly Thursdays series in Bayfield, Wis.

Dolce Wind Quintet were selected as one of Classical MPR's Artists in Residence for 2013 - 14. In 2010, Dolce were the house band for Classical MPR's Taste of the Holidays Concert at the Fitzgerald Theater, and in 2009, they were featured on MPR's Holiday Sampler broadcast. Dolce also performed live on-air during MPR Day in Rochester and for MPR's Music Alive event at Calhoun Square in Minneapolis.

In 2014, the Dolce Wind Quintet were among Classical MPR's Class Notes artists — musicians who are selected to perform, teach and speak about music during visits to schools throughout the state of Minnesota.

The musicians are Nancy Wucherpfennig, flute; Megan Dvorak, oboe; Ford Campbell, bassoon; Vicki Wheeler, French horn; Karen Hansen, clarinet.

All of them teach and perform in the Twin Cities area and hold positions with other chamber ensembles and several orchestras up and down Minnesota — from Bloomington and Rochester to Mankato and Duluth.
