For our weekly feature, "Moveable Feast," Rachel Hutton of Minnesota Monthly joins John Birge to talk about where to go and what to eat in Minnesota.

As college students leave their campuses with diplomas and empty stomachs, John and Rachel talk about where students can learn a valuable life skill: how to cook.

Rachel says good cooking lessons can equip a person for the rest of his or her life. Some local shops that offer cooking lessons include Cooks of Crocus Hill and the Kitchen Window as well as several of the area co-ops.

There are a range of classes on offer, from such things as knife skills, barbecue boot camp or how to make quick weeknight meals; there are even advanced topics like canning.

Community education, such as the program found in Minneapolis, also can be a place to learn some cooking skills. Through Minneapolis Community Ed, Rachel has taken classes on Thai cooking and on how to make a bûche de Noël.

Congratulations, graduates!
