Today at 2 p.m., Minnesota Percussion Trio will perform at the MPR booth at the State Fair, located near the corner of Judson and Nelson. Classical MPR's Claire Philpott hosts.
The Minnesota Percussion Trio has been performing together for the past 25 years in the Twin Cities, greater Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It has given more than 1,200 performances in libraries, schools, museums, churches and fine arts series. The trio has been featured on local television and in the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, and has received praise from educators for its unique and engaging presentations of musical concepts.
Minnesota Percussion Trio comprises Bob Adney, Erik Barsness and Paul Hill.
In 1999, Minnesota Percussion Trio was presented the "Artist of the Year" award by Young Audiences of Minnesota. In 2006, it received the Zildjian Family Opportunity Grant which allowed the group to perform for more than 2,000 students in St. Paul and Minneapolis. It has also participated in the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's renowned CONNECT, Start the Music and Xplorchestra music education concerts for young children.
Minnesota Percussion Trio has also been a Classical MPR Artist-in-Residience, and it participated in two of the recently released Classical MPR in the Classroom educational videos.
