Is it a new trend?
The "last page" featurette of my Bon Appetit magazine this month had Renee Fleming talking about the intertwined relationship of food & music, and her obsession with sweets...including La Diva Renee, her signature dessert created by chef Daniel Boulod of New York restaurant Daniel.
"It's a wafer-thin crust filled with champagne cream, layered, in a sauce of bitter chocolate, with fruit," she says. "The amazing thing is they've managed to laser print the first page of the score of Der Rosenkavalier on the top of it."
Soon after, I opened the newest Sunset, "The Magazine of Southwest Living." (You can take the girl out of the desert...) and the last page featured a Q&A with Esa-Pekka chatting away about navigating Los Angeles freeways (he learned to drive only after coming to LA!), the Disney Concert Hall, and the nature of audiences there, saying,
"Los Angeles has curiosity and lack of prejudice. That is powerful. Our audiences are able to take challenges. They run with them."
I wonder which classical star will be on the last page of next month's mags?
