Jake Armerding

Jake Armerding grew up playing classical violin and listening to ‘80s pop radio. He spent 20 years on the road as an instrumentalist, appearing on such revered stages as Carnegie Hall and the Newport Folk Festival. But after live performances were blindsided by the pandemic, he embraced an artistic sea change and began to pivot toward local musical work. He was thrilled to land a spot on the YourClassical team in the last days of 2024 and now happily pontificates on such thorny issues as Franz Liszt’s psychological development, how it felt to be Ludwig van Beethoven’s 59th coffee bean and which composer’s music is most effective at calming people in airports. He and his wife oversee the developing rowdiness of their three boys in River Falls, Wisconsin.
