Composer Julius Eastman’s personal philosophy was “to be what I am to the fullest. Black to the fullest, a musician to the fullest, and a homosexual to the fullest.” Eastman rose to prominence as a modern composer in the 1970s in New York but unfortunately died homeless and alone. He lived his brilliant, beautiful and challenging life to the fullest.
