Need ideas for easy and fun at-home music learning? Here's our daily Classical Kids Music Lesson.

Classical Kids Daily Music Lessons is taking the month of July off for summer vacation. Here are a few listening ideas to go along with some favorite summer vacation activities.

Target age range: All ages

PICNIC

Pack a lunch and eat outside. Listen to Summer, from Vivaldi's Four Seasons, to help set the mood.

STARGAZING

Listen to California Stars, by Billy Bragg and Wilco, as you stare up into space. Or revisit the Classical Kids Daily Music Lesson: Stargazing.

HIKING

The first movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 1 sounds a little bit like walking into the woods. If you can't go on a hike in a real forest, listen to this and imagine all the sights and sounds of a forest as you listen.

READ BOOKS

Or, if you don't want to read a book, listen to one of the many classic books that have been turned into operas. Here is just a little part of Bernard Herrman's opera, Wuthering Heights, based on the famous novel by Emily Bronte.

WATCH MOVIES

Get ready for movie night! One of the best things about movies is their soundtracks. Here's a classic.

GET WET!

Your favorite pool or beach might be closed this summer, but getting out the hose or sprinkler or some water balloons is a good way to stay cool on a hot day. Suggested soundtrack for water gamesis Jeux d'eau, by Maurice Ravel. The title's translation literally means "water play."

GO CANOEING

Before you go, listen to composer Daniel Nass' musical story about one girl's canoeing adventure.

What else do you like to do in the summer? Think of a soundtrack for each of your favorite summertime activities.
