Kwanzaa special: Nguzo Saba
When Africans were brought to North America 400 years ago, many of their customs, traditions and rituals were left behind, only to be lost forever to future generations of black Americans. In 1966, Dr. Maulana Karenga led a revival of African heritage by creating a weeklong celebration called Kwanzaa. It's driven by a set of principles, known as the Nguzo Saba. In this special feature, host Garrett McQueen goes through each of those guiding principles, making connections to Afro-American-inspired classical music along the way.
