This is the week when millions around the world will begin the observance of Holy Week and Passover. Our Morning Glories all draw on faith traditions, each in its own way. We'll begin with four new releases, and end the week with the mighty St. Matthew Passion. Listen each weekday at 10 a.m.
The Choir of King's College, Cambridge, is one of the world's famous choirs. On Monday, March 23, the Choir will make an appearance in St. Paul, Minn., as part of Classical MPR's Choral Series. This week on Morning Glories, we'll look forward to their arrival with five pieces that reach from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
This week, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra inaugurates a new chapter in its history. The SPCO stays at the Ordway in downtown St. Paul, but now they'll be playing in the brand-new Concert Hall -- a visually and acoustically striking space, specially designed to complement the sound and intimacy of a chamber orchestra. On Morning Glories, we'll join in the celebration with five SPCO performances, in recordings from the archive of Classical Minnesota Public Radio.
